Burnout as Disconnection with Nikita Williams and Janet Diaz on Chronic Illness, Corporate Survival Mode & Soulcraft Journeys

Join us as Janet shares her invaluable insights on navigating burnout, especially when transitioning from corporate environments while managing chronic illness. This conversation explores how to cope with emotional exhaustion and the stress that often accompanies these significant life and career changes. We discuss practical strategies for maintaining mental health amidst the demands of work and personal well-being.

Nikita interviews Janet about burnout, defining it as deep disconnection from inner wisdom, purpose, and the right path—explaining why vacations don’t resolve it. Janet shares her story by decades: in her 20s she entered corporate life, married, was diagnosed with lupus, became the primary breadwinner, and pushed through worsening pain while earning an MBA; in her 30s she faced severe flares, postpartum depression and emotional disconnection, a diagnosis of severe rheumatoid arthritis, a layoff during pregnancy, financial strain, and a move to Austin for a higher-paying role; in her 40s intense work stress worsened her health, leading to chemotherapy infusions and a Hashimoto’s diagnosis, until a healthier job culture and medical leave helped her slow down, reconnect, and pursue coaching and intentional travel.

She and her sister Yvette launched SoulcraftJourneys.com, offering small “journeys” built on a four-step Soulcraft Experience—grounding, needs, release, and reconnection—using practices like mindfulness, journaling, nature time, and intentional travel, emphasizing daily self-prioritization, shedding labels, and trusting inner intuition.
