Fashion, Photography, and Hashtags
On my journey to speak to 100 photographers this year I am learning so much about the women in this industry. Last week I had the privilege to interview Aleksandra located in Italy. I am so excited to share her journey and hope you will find some inspiration from her path.
At age 13 Aleksandra got her first digital camera in Poland where she began to fall in love with photography. Photography is her passion! Although she started self-taught she studied photography at Warsaw School of Photography to organize her photographic knowledge and to learn even more. She also went to college for Law and recently finished getting her law diploma but after looking for a job awhile she decided to go to work pursuing her passion, Photography full time.
If you love designer clothes, styling, and meeting new people take a look at the fashion industry, it’s Aleksandra’s niche. Although self-taught with a few classes she swung head first into this industry. If you could hear Aleksandra’s voice when I asked her why this industry, her voice just brightened up with excitement.
Can your clients hear your passion?
Her first big win was working at Milan fashion week. After taking Jasmine Star’s Insta80 program and implementing what she learned about hashtags, in 2 days she had fashion bloggers contacting her. One of those leads hired her to work at Milan Fashion Week. She describes it as one of the most exciting moments in her business. Shooting backstage while working for a fashion blogger at Milan Fashion Week met lots of big guys, flashes, and validation that this was where she wanted to be.
From talking with Aleksandra I could tell her favorite part of the business is shooting. She’d agree but she also admits to feeling a bit nervous working with new clients even though her work speaks for itself.
Challenges: Finding clients in her niche is the most difficult- She continues to look for ways to grow and work with more fashion brands, magazines, and fashion designers.
What’s working for her right now? Instagram and hashtags are her gold nugget to finding clients. Her words, “Hashtags work miracles”!
She admits that even though there are parts of her business she struggles with she always finds moments to love. I love her positive attitude! She loves natural light in a world where studio light is the go-to for a lot of fashion photographers. Loves the ambient light in her words “It’s so beautiful”.
